Next GFP M&E and communication national workshops

in

IIED, in close collaboration with GFP in country partners, FAO and IUCN has embarked on the organisation of a series of training and raising awareness workshops on monitoring and evaluation and communication in each of the GFP countries.

So far the workshops have taken place in Liberia (August) and Mozambique (July) and Guatemala and Ghana are to follow. Given that each country and partnership is developing in its own particular way, the scope of the workshops is to define and harmonize a GFP monitoring framework.

The work done by the Guatemala team with IIED showed that the full engagement with the local stakeholders is crucial to craft a monitoring framework that is locally relevant, and that can be shared internationally.

The main objectives of these M&E and communication workshops are: (i) to create a common understanding of M&E principles across the GFP network; (ii) to produce a dynamic and flexible framework that responds to specific country needs and that can at the same be shared amongst GFP countries; and (iii) to link M&E outcomes with adequate communication strategies.

Workshops have an interactive approach with theoretical and practical sessions.

The expected outcomes of the workshops are:

  • Gaining an overview of how GFP process is progressing in each country
  • Familiarizing in-country stakeholders with M&E processes and the Theory of Change
  • Raising awareness of the different communication tools and opportunities to be used according to the scope of the message and audience
  • Raising awareness on the linkages between M&E and communication
  • Strengthening links between GFP actors/stakeholders and the media
  • Providing participants with an overview of the tools and mechanisms to improve communication flow between local- national- international dimensions
  • Contributing to a stronger M&E approach and framework for GFP globally
